Big help on the farm

A thanks to Erica Softley and Mark Keaney for their work experience

A big thanks to Erica Softley a veterinary student from London Vet school who has been with us for a week on work experience. It's fanatastic to think that all over the UK vet students are out on alpaca farms gathering experience with camelids and alpacas. We seem to have moved from the novelty stage to the established stage pretty rapidly in the past two years. There can't be many vets leaving their colleges who don't know their way around an alapca these days.
The handsome beast at the back of this photo with the hair is Mark Keany a local lad who has been with us on work experieince for a month gathrering some animal experieince to complete his college course before he hopefully goes off to Bangor University to study zoology with a specialisation in herpitology. That's the study of reptiles ( had to look it up) Mark has ambitions to do lots of fieldwork and research. Which probably means he's destined to spend a lot of time crawling on his hands and knees in the jungle. As a man who will walk half a mile to avoid a grass snake I think I'll stick to my alpacas.
We wish Erica and Mark well as they move on to pursue their interests and trust they remember their time at Toft Alpacas with affection.
