A big weekend for the Heart of England Alpaca group this weekend as we held an Alpaca Stud and Progeny day at Purston Manor, Brackley Northants. This is where exhibitors are invited to bring along thier Stud Males and examples of their progeny so that fellow breeders in the region can assess and see whether they wan tot use the boys over their females in the coming months.

We put on a fantastic display. Because our males and their offspring have done so well in the shows this year we were able to put three progeny pens together with three prizewinning offspring in each and at least one if not two champions.

The males we took were Barrabinda Flinders Star our mid fawn Australian male who won the progeny shield at the Kenilworth show. Toft Jaina our mid brown sone of Skywalker whose black and borwn offspring have excelled at both teh National and the Kenilworth this season. As always our whites were represented by our pure Accoyo herd. namelyAccoyo Europe Aragorn of Toft whose progeny have been exceptional in the white classes which as always were extremely competitive.

Of course all the animals had been shorn some weeks previous so we had 12 fleeces to display. Dozens of rosettes and ribbons and when it was all laid out for the breeders to touch and feel it was a truly impressive display of quality fleece, quality genetics and was a real testament to our achievements in breedeing alpacas for the past 14 years.

Forgive me a little for blowing our trumpet but it's not often you get to see the depth of progress we have made. The stud and progeny day seemd to crystallis a magnificent season for Toft. It was exciting to see and hopefully those breeders who attended could see that Toft is now a Stud Farm with strength , depth and variety in all colours adn acheiveing a level of excellence as it approaches the top of its game.
